Thank heaven for Jack Welch--At least the stock I have is still gathering
dividends as it plunges to the lowest I've ever seen.

Who or what do you blame for that plunge?

Probably the financial market crisis. GE is now making more money from
financials than they are from manufacturing, sort of like GM.

I don't know enough to place blame on "who or what". I have my thoughts. I
just know that Immelt is not Welch--maybe it's the times or the person. He
(Immelt) wasn't picked lightly. Just read Welch's book on his growth and
reign as CEO. Welch evaluated his executives over a number of years
gradually zeroing in on his replacement. Did he miss or is Immelt being
screwed by the what's been going on for the last few years? I worked for GE
during the Welch time frame and bought GE stock from '83-94 as part of the
saving's program. The price may be down right now but the dividends are
paid every quarter and have gone up every year. No complaint from me!

Ok, just hang on to your GE stock, (my opinion) buy more if you can
while the price is low, it will rebound. GE is solid.

No only is GE on sale, but so are a lot of other companies. There
really is a financial crisis. The fundamentals of the economy are ok
(not great, but fundamentally ok). Now is a good time to buy stock.

GE right now is a bargain. I have never seen it this low, and no matter
what happens to GE it always seems to hover around 37.
Of course, when *I* was working for GE the stock soared to 72, and then
they split 2-for-1 to get it back to 36.
