I was actually going to trade my SR-T 201 for one in Toronto. The guy said, "What's wrong with it?" "Nothing" "Then WHY TRADE IT!!!!" He actually talked me out of a sale.
Yeah! Those are GREAT cameras!!!

Then I traded it in when I went with the Minolta Maxxum 7000. My Maxxum was the original with the crossed Xes that Exxon jumped on Minolta for. Latter versions had the Xes separated.

My SR-T 201 was a great inexpensive camera, and it took fantastic shots. I have an Olympus that's a bit better, but it was a more expensive camera, too.

Do you still Use Olympus SLR cameras? I have several that need a new home- Mostly accessories; several lenses. The price would be as reasonable as scotts.

Om10 body- don't think it works 500mm mirrored lense flash. power winder (needs battery contact cleaned inside) remote flash stand. 70-260 zoom a do-hickie that clips over the viewfinder so you can look down into the camera. What I need to find is the Olympus OM4, it has a lense on it and a doubler. Steve

If I were you I'd be looking into an Olympus digital that can use these. Some of the earlier (but decent) digitals could take standard Olympus accessories.
S.Hansen - 29 Mar 2009 01:00 GMT >>> Let me know! I have an OM-10. >>> [quoted text clipped - 17 lines] > Some of the earlier (but decent) digitals could take standard Olympus > accessories. Hmm, really? almost don't need to buy another camera, but I will check. WTF do I look for? I have a cannon eos, 8 megapixle. a 10 megapixle "small" camera, and a cannon slr. I have to do some thinking on it, I have too many toys. 5 cpu's 2 laptops, full sized tractor 2 trucks, 2 motorcycles 3 cars.
Sometimes you run out of space.
Where you located at?

4 film cameras. 2 digitals. 5 computers. 3 laptops. 3 basses. An acoustic guitar. 4 stereos. A stereo MP3 player in every car, and 3 more CD players hanging around. Oh, and 6 cars, 4 running and two 'in-progress'... ;)

Film cameras, I had a friend who owned a camera shop and we would take film cameras to the range and shoot em up, but we cleaned up the mess. Minolta, I have a sp xi, I want to blow up. Honestly film is a waste of money and time.

I have maybe 7 film cameras collecting dust since getting a good P&S in 04. Film is history.

For myself, I prefer digital, simply because I get immediate gratification or disappointment without without the costly processing.

I have three good working film cameras, I paid $10 for one, $25 for the other, and Scott provided me with an old favorite. While I really cherish my film cameras, I almost always have one with me. If someone breaks into the car and steals one, I'm not out $250-300 for the digital Olympus I have.
But I'd still be sore at losing a nice camera...

I have a Canon 5D, which has been, and still is probably the finest quality digital camera available....talking image quality.
Film still beats it in terms of image quality.
Would I got back to film? Sometimes, I shoot a roll of film. It is still magic.

No he's not. The only reason I got a digital camera was for snapshots. When it comes to *real* photography, I still use a film camera.
Less expensive digital cameras don't have the flexibility of different lenses, filters or accessories you have with film cameras in the same price range.

But since starting with a cheap sony W5 years ago mine just collect dust and I mostly shot K 25 then 64. My digitals use filters, extra flash, zoom, and have all the things Ive needed to junk film. Yes i scanned all the best K 25 and 64 slides with a good scanner, but I will never go back. Hey you like minolta I have a maxum spxi im ready to junk. Film is also a waste of money and time.

S.Hansen - 29 Mar 2009 17:56 GMT >>You are the only one to think that. I'm neutral on the subject, overall, But I did the change to digital for convenience. My photo skills left a lot to be desired. Seeing it instantly is a great advantage, but I would be a idiot to tell others that there view of how something looks is wrong. Many people bought up the last packages of Polaroid film because they prefer the way it looks. that is there opinion. I think Digital is equal to Film in most regards; but you can do IR pictures with film, and there are processes of using different ASA film speeds to do x-pictures to give you y-results that cannot be duplicated with digital. Have you ever taken black and white pictures? adding color filters to accent a gray in a picture to get a result. Using cameras is like painting- some use colored pencils, come water colors, some oil paint. its a art for, and its up to the user, not you.
Hachiroku ハチロク - 29 Mar 2009 19:03 GMT >>>You are the only one to think that. > [quoted text clipped - 10 lines] > Using cameras is like painting- some use colored pencils, come water colors, > some oil paint. its a art for, and its up to the user, not you. That's why you do bracketing. You take a shot at the recommendation from the light meter, then one speed lower and one higher, and one f-stop lower and one higher. You use a bit more film, but you get the shot.
The biggest mistake I see people making is NOT PAYING ATTENTION to what's in the viewfinder! That's when you get trees growing out of people's heads, thumbs or fingers on the lens, etc.
In the good old days when developing B&W film was a snap, and you rolled your own film, who cared how many shots you took? But color is different; if you're not set up for it, it can get a little expensive. But when you're shooting either for 'art' or for publication, it pays for itself.

Could include a VERY interesting lens, too.
