Why reward him for failure? He has to go.

Since he's handing over MY TAX DOLLARS to General Motors, he can demand
whatever terms he chooses as far as I'm concerned.

You, on the other hand, are OK with giving welfare to a CEO who is a
failure.

"Handing over," good choice of words Joe. Sounds like that's what this
administration seems to be doing with ALL our money.

Welcome to the Peoples Republic of the United States, comrade. We will tell
you what you can and cannot do, and when you must do it.

So, you think corporations should receive welfare without passing any tests
to prove they're worthy of getting it?

We elected a president that way.  And Congress, well, that goes without saying.

No, I don't thingk that at all. I think they should not get welfare. Period.

These people get paid big bucks to know what's happening. I could run GM if
all that was required was I had to put my hat out for the government
printers to fill up for me.

I'm not upset that the CEO stepped down, I'm upset that the government
pushed him out. I'm also upset that the government wqrote the stupid bastard
the big checks already, but that's a discussion for another day.

I run a small business, and nobody is sending me a bailout check. To be
honest, they could bail me out for about two million dollars and then fire
me, and that would be okay. I could cover all of my debts and retire on the
rest. Government could bail out a couple of million guys like me for what
they have spent on bailing out the other losers already.

You libs pitched a fit because Bush shredded the Constitution, but Obama is
making Bush's actions look like child's play and you remain silent. I just
don't get it.

Because he walks on water........Where you been Jeff? Thats what happens
when you get SO FAR in the tank for someone that any criticism of the
180 he took would make people admit that they were possibly wrong so its
a deeper hole people dig for themselves living in denial. We all know
the type of behavior that "denial" creates.

OK. So, some smart government people set guidelines which GM must follow in
order to keep getting handouts. They determine that GM has not followed the
guidelines. You think GM's board of directors, who are as guilty as the CEO,
should decide whether to fire the CEO? You're crazy.

That is a decision for the board of directors to be making, not the
government, and certainly not the President.

You're a broken record Joe.

Two distinctly different responses by me get the same response from you.

You got the response you deserved. The board of directors failed, along with
the CEO.

And for that, welcome to the People's Socialist Republic of America,
comrade. We will tell you what you can and cannot do, and when you can do
it.

Do you not understand the problems that come when government makes hiring
and firing decisions for corporate America? It is far better for America to
waterboard a few camel jockies held on a remote corner of a remote island
and deal with the liberal bitchfest that comes from those claiming due
process violations than to have this kind of crap going on and have to deal
with the entire rest of the world because the dollar is no longer strong.
You really don't understand that, do you?

This is a big problem for America.

The CEO was asked to quit. He quit.

Yes, and in the mean time the government is now acting like a giant Human
Resources Department, and causing the dollar to tank because our economy is
shifting away from one tht is driven by a free market to one that is driven
by government.

Now, GM has a new guy at the helm, but still has a recovery plan that does
not pass muster with the President.

Good. I'm glad it doesn't pass muster with the president.
Jeff Strickland - 30 Mar 2009 21:09 GMT
> Good. I'm glad it doesn't pass muster with the president.

That part of the issue is fine. GM asked for a loan, and the government
granted it with terms. GM has not met the terms and government is telling
them to do the terms the way it wants.

But canning the CEO was not among the terms, and the board of directors
should be making the decision as to whether the CEO gets canned or not. The
government only gets to decide if it will lend more money or not.

I happen to think it should not have lended ANY money, but I've already lost
that discussion. Government has no business making personnel decisions for
any private company. sh.t, Obama can't even stick with the decisions he made
relative to hiring lobbyists, and he put a tax dodge in charge of collecting
taxes.

It's not about Wagner, Larry. Nobody gives a rat's a.s that he stays or
goes. The issue is that he should be fired by the board of directors, not
the President. It is not the government's job to pull a performance review
on the heads of companies. Barack Obama has just placed himself at the head
of Human Resources for all of America's industries. This is not the role of
government. It is certainly not the role of the President. Well, it
apparently is the role of the President, but it ought not be.

Just your favorite whipping group, welfare mothers - When you're on
the dole and taking government money we tell you what to do.  They
could just file Chapter 11 and reorganize.
