Did they sing this back in the Navy:

Dough, the stuff that buys my beer,
Ray, the guy that pours my beer, (Hi, Ray!)
Me, the one who drinks my beer,
Fah, a long way to the head.
So, I'll have another beer,
La, I'll have another beer,
Tea?  No thanks, I'll have a beer,
Which will leave me without dough. . . .

Maybe we ought to rewrite it with different lyrics for Joe/Doug, like
Dough, the stuff that buys my coke,
Ray, the guy who deals my coke,
Me, the one who snorts my coke,
Fah, a long way to more coke,  etc.

I'd be willing to bet Joe/Doug has never even seen a DD-214.  He's too young
to have burned his draft card.

A number of 'adult beverages' were consumed.

Joe/Doug could not get into the military even if he wanted to....

And for Joe/Doug to say your DD-214 has no record of your service just
proves he's never seen one.  I actually ended up having TWO copies of my
dad's.  I know my grandfather served in WW1 and both my grandfathers had
draft cards in both WW1 and WW2.   (By WW2 both were "Vital War Workers" and
even though they were still young enough to be drafted, they were not.  One
was working in the oil industry and one in transportation.)   Also would
like to find the records of those who served in That Late Unfortunate
Incident.  I'm sure to have some who served both Blue and Gray.
I have partial records of one relative who served in the War of 1812, and I
know another one served in the same war and his father served in the War for
Independence.

In Mississippi is buried Col John Bond, who served in NC in the
Revolutionary War.  His indirect ancestor, William Bond, help build "The
Pelican", and later refitted it for Drake when later it was renamed The
Golden Hind.   William Bond also helped outfit the "Hellburners" that scared
the Spanish during the battle in 1588.  (One of them was one of his 'old'
ships.)

On the other side, I have the father of Warwick the Kingmaker, Anne Parr
(sister of Katherine Parr) lady in waiting to all 6 of Henry VIII's wives,
including her sister.   John of Gaunt.  Katherine Swinford.  Joan de
Beaufort.  And if Joe thinks I'm decended from a barbarian, he's right.  I'm
decended from William the Bastard and his ancestor Rollo of Normandy.

(Yes I could even possibly be releated to Ivan Grozny.)
