“Step back and think for a minute before rushing and panicking” is the message coming from Texas Congressman Ron Paul who has warned that the swine flu scare will once again be used as a precedent for big government intrusion. “This is not to downplay the seriousness of it. I do believe the democrats are grasping for every bit of power in every corner they can find. What you are witnessing now is a takeover of the U.S. by a bunch of socialists disguised by claiming to be democrats. They are doing a very good job of fooling the voters, so far. Thank the gods there is a > 2 term limit on the office of president. It works both ways. That two term limit works against the country when you have a very good president like Clinton or Obama. Stop and think about what would not have happened if Clinton had had a third and fourth term. No 9/11 attack, no war in Iraq, no economic melt-down. OTOH, you can have a very bad president in terms of policy that's very popular personally, such as Reagan, who can get re-elected over and over again. The 22nd amendment was put into place after FDR's 4 terms, but FDR was one of the best presidents in history. W wouldn't have won a third term anyway. |
