No no no. No need to remove the intake manifold. It's a pain, but certainly
doable. Start by removing the PCV hose and the 12mm bolt/ground strap on
the right side of the surge tank. After that its just a matter of patience
and few different size ratchets and extensions until you find the right
combination to get back there underneath the intake manifold. I use 3"
and 5" extensions, and two ratchets, about 5" and 9". Post if you need
help.

You can purchase daily or annual access to Toyota on-line service
information at http://techinfo.toyota.com/
To change the spark plugs, you need to remove the ignition coils to get at
the spark plugs.

68000 miles on my 2000 Avalon, I have changed the front 3 spark plugs, and
was eazy, but those 3 in the back looks complicated and I do not know what
should or should not to removed, Plz help
