We've been looking at the Odyssy and Sienna. Leaning towards the Sienna.
I was very disapointed to see that XM radio isn't offered on the Sienna at
all, even with the Nav system. I might pay the extra $2k for the nav
system just to have it all integrated into one handy dashboard installed
package. I'm frustrated that I cant just add the XM module to the factory
head unit to get XM.
The salesperson said that they will install an XM Radio (a Roady 2 based on
his description) hardwire it to power and dress the antenna cable behind
the dash nicely, however it would require listening to it through the FM
radio. I've got a roady2 installed in my Explorer and have it intalled
directly to my factory radio (select the CD changer and you get the XM
radio) and it sounds great. Sounded horrible when listening through the FM
radio.
Is there a similar solution available for the 2005 Sienna? Does any
particular audio option make it easier or harder (JBL sound system yes/no,
6 disk changer yes/no?)

Ask local car stereo shops (NOT THE TOYOTA DEALER) about these:

I have one in my '05 Tacoma w/ 6 disc changer and use it with an MP3
player and Roady 2. I installed it myself in less than 20 minutes,
after buying it online.
To use the input, you simply select disc 1, track 1, with no CD in slot 1.

Cool! How hard is it getting to the back of the head unit? I put a PIE
adapter in my Explorer and it was very easy because I didn't need to get at
the head unit at all, just the CD changer in the center console.

The Taco involved popping off the climate control panel and removing (2)
10mm bolts, the radio slid right out. I found a photo illustrated
procedure for the truck via Google.
Maybe Google can point you toward Sienna radio replacement, or for $10,
you can get online access to the genuine Toyota service manuals for 24
hours.

There is an option for the 05 Sienna with NAV for the XM radio. Its the same
radio as prius. Check out
www.siennaclub.org and you will find it there.
$600 and it integrates with the built in system

Are you referring to the thread about adding a Solara Nav/XM unit to an 04
XLE Ltd?
Or are you referring to the PT546-06040 solution? According to
Toyotapart.com, this is for the Solara. Is it compatible with the Sienna
as well?

PT546-06040 -- yup it is compatible... Some dealers will say this doesnt
work. Toyota of Crystal Lake, Illinois can do this, and maybe have your
dealer call them.

So all you need to do is connect the XM unit to the back of the Nav system?
All the same displays as the Solara, the AM button toggles between AM radio
and XM radio? (like this:

Dan,
I hate to keep bugging you but the service person my dealer spoke with
couldnt' recall your vehicle. He offered to look it up by your name, but I
doubt it's under "Dan J.S".
Would you mind dropping me an email at rtphokie@gmail.com with your
first/last name?
