Hello Everybody.
I would really appreciate any insight on a problem I have. I seem to
have lost my idle.
Car: 1982 Starlet KP61.
Engine: 4K-C (California) with Aisan 2-Barrel Carburetor. Idled "OK"
with original carb.
The car was running only OK, so I thought a reman carb would be a good
idea. Reman carb would not idle. Frustrated, I put the old carb back
on. Old carb will not idle. So I started all over.
1) I adjusted the mixture screw by the book
2) The idle speed screw has no effect until it is turned up to the
point where it bypasses the idle circuit.
3) The car starts, revs, and runs just fine - it just won't idle.
I've checked and rechecked the vacuum hose routing and it's all there.
What else would cause this problem? I'm stumped. I'm hoping for the
"That happened to me and I just..." answer.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Remeber the adage, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." ;-)

.
When you say that it won't idle, I'm assuming you mean that the engine dies.
If so, check manifold vacuum to make sure you do not have a vacuum leak.
Also, for the vacuum hose routing, some vacuum switching valves have an "in"
and "out" so make sure the hoses are not switched.
