Hi all Considering an XL7 for the 7 seats and easy access to the back, but what's it like off road? I've read that the std Grand Vitara is pretty good (Land Rover Recovery Vehicle, someone said!) but with the xtra length would the xl7 be OK? Looked at a Disco but price and practicality with the extra seats is a problem. Shogun and Amazon are just toooooo big (and expensive!). We've had a Sportage and a Freelander and both were good fun (Sportage much better!) off road, is the xl7 likely to be any good in the mud? Experiences? You can get a (7-seat) Pajero LWB with 30,000 to 50,000 miles on the clock for six to eight grand ... and that car will have a better specification than the equivalent Shogun. Sure, it'll be "old", but the Japanese are not high-mileage drivers, don't use road-salt, and look after their cars a lot more than do Brits. The Pajero is also one of the few grey imports to enjoy UK main dealer support and has a thriving "user community". When I needed new tyres I looked to see if there was something better thatn the standard Dueller HTs and there was not much of a choice in that size. I have never taken my XL7 off road but I love it. Its an 04 auto and is as smooth as anything. :-) >One word of warning! Can't you get BFG ATs? 235/60 16s. When I changed mine, about a year ago, I could find nothing on the web and my local tyre dealer could not do any better.
