I saw one in a mud pit recently, it was stuck there for two days while
they got a winch strong enough to pull it out, a big fat thing.

If you're after one, then decide what year, go and look at some web
sites about it, as all other factors, e.g. MPG, parts, service etc
will depend largely on the year, just as any other car.  The model has
been around for a long time.

If it's just a different-looking car that you want then fine, but if
you want something to go off-roading in, there's a lot of better kit
around.

Also not all blazers are 4x4s, some are only 2 wheel drive, so make
sure you know what you want and what you are getting.

They're cheap because they drink more than Geoffrey Barnard locked in a
pub. I don't own one, but I had a look at buying one before setting on the
Ford Explorer I now have. The Blazer was crap by comparison to the Ford,
used more fuel, slower, less good off road, surprisingly little room inside
for the external dimensions.

I had one (2001 model) for 2 years and it won hands down on the explorer.
Much more comfortable, not much less powerful (if at all) but not as much
room in the back. I have had both. I like to take my parents away every year
on a driving holiday and the Chevy was the most comfy car in the back ever.
If they still imported I would get one. MPG, not the best but comparable to
most 4 litre plus petrol cars....

IMVHO of course :-)

At risk of going slightly OT here, but the earlier (pre North Face)
Explorers have flat(ish) bench style rear seats which are somewhat basic and
uncomfortable given the class of vehicle. Rear seat passengers will find the
later North Face models much more comfortable.
Blazer are thirstier than Explorers? That is scary...

We got one as a hire car last time we were in Florida (not by choice,
was just what they gave us). It was only 2 wheel drive, and not a huge
amount of space inside, but I did like it, had never driven a car of
that style before, and it persuaded me to by a 4x4 when I got back.
Bought a Shogun, (3.0l LWB)  love it.

I drove a Blazer in the States that's why I now want one
but am put off by the Petrol costs
Mind you the one I am looking at is Gas LPG don't know how much of a
difference that makes
