is there anyone on here who has any experience of running a diesel engine on
this, not 100%, but 1/3 or 2/3?.

i'm thinking of getting an older 4x4, probably a trooper or patrol and
wondered if anyone had any experience, i read a post on this group earlier
in the year by a guy who was running a pajero on 1/3 veg oil and 2/3 diesel.

any thoughts (and i will be doing it legally)

TIA

Have a look at the Pajero Owners Club site (http://www.pocuk.com/) and then
check out the biofuel-specific forums. There are several who're running 2.5
and 2.8 Pajeros on veggie and you should find all the info you need. Be
aware that some fuel pump seals can perish, but except for that the 2.5s
and 2.8s seem to thrive on the stuff.

Another resource is http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/ - which has a
forum and a vehicle database that might be of help.

Look for an old-style pre-chamber combustion diesel with inline
injection pump. Toyota BJ42 or HJ60 will do fine. Install second fuel
filter. Install fuel preheater close to engine. Use Veg Oil only when
travelling longer distances, not city traffic. Try to use a two-tank
solution, one diesel, one veggie and switch when the engine is fully
warmed up.

My M class diesel will work but only for a short time If I use tesco Diesel
(according to the local Merc Dealer) so running on veg oil is VERY Iffy for
the modern car

You are supposed to by Mercedes branded Diesel in 1 litre bottles at the
dealership only. Anything less will make your airbags perish and small
pine forests grow in the ducts of the airconditioning system. And
ferrets will steal your children.

www.dieselveg.com

I ran Citroen Diesels on pure veg all year round. Didn't seem to do them any
harm in the 100k+ miles I clocked up...

Helps to put a bit of diesel in in winter I found, but it still started ok
on pure, even if it took a couple of goes..
