Hi, I have a pair of running boards for my Nissan x-trail, but don't
have a fixing kit for them. Has anyone any suggestions as to where i
might get a kit, or failing that has anyone got a set they could
'draw' for me so that I could get them made. As you can see i'm
getting desperate!
Any help welcomed!

Desperate huh?

So, fitting running boards to a Nissan mini 4WD is likely to be a
significant life-changing event?

Have you considered putting that peel-off window tinting plastic stuff on
your windows? I found my street cred increased enormously when I did this to
my Ford Explorer!!

Good luck in your Quest

I need the running boards for my mum. I look after her, she's 78 in
April. She has a bone disease which means that both hips and knees
have had to be replaced. She can't get up into the x-trail without a
step. At the moment I have to try and lift her. The x trail was the
only 4x4 with a boot big enough for the wheel chair. I can't manage as
things are much longer. That's why I'm getting desperate.

I'm not familiar with the X-trail running boards, but the ones I have on my
Ford Explorer are near useless for helping disabled people. My wife has had
hip and knee replacements and found the running boards too high and too
narrow.
What I did was carry a low step, the type used for caravans. Then, all she
had to do was step up on it, shuffle round so her bum was facing the seat,
and lower herself onto the seat, then swing her legs in.

Denise,

There are also some folding lightweight steps that
could be used for this and maybe other things as well.

Would a Landrover Defender style folding step fit,
or could it be made to fit? They are lower than
most running boards and deeper too.

You might also try REMAP. They are a charity that
make one-off adaptations free of charge for
disabled people. They have local panels of
competent engineers all across the country.

let us know how you get on.
