Does anyone have experience of them?

Anything to be aware of? Seems Insurance is a minefield of small print
so I figure lowest price doesn't always equal best.

cheers,
Paul

I've yet to have a quote from them that didn't involve hysterical
laughter on my part. I'm up for renewal this year and only Direct Line
(my existing insurer) and Tesco are in the running at present.

YMMV.

That's always been my experience, tbh I did the quote expecting the same
this time around, but I almost fell off my chair with shock as it looks
like a very good quote compared to almost everyone else.

That's why I'm wary.  It seems the only optional extra is protected
no-claims which is another 15%, so I'm trying to see if there is
anything else to be aware of.

I say all this with a touch of hypocrisy as I've renewed with my current
insurer for the last X years on the basis that they've been the
cheapest, I've never paid a lot of attention to what I'm getting other
than comprehensive cover.

cheers,
Paul

Same here, they were competitive this just now but usually aren't.

If you go for'confirm and buy' and then 'next', it seems to tell you
who the real insurance company is (Allianz Cornhill in my case). They
may give you a bit more confidence, or make you went to try another
broker who uses the same underwriter.

Hmm.. thanks for that tip, it comes up as "Kinetic (AA)"?

Short of spending my weekend on the phone/web I think I've tried
everywhere.

AA is approx £400 with protected no claims vs £650 or so everywhere else.

Seems to mean "Kinetic Underwriting Concepts". Never heard of them.

The AA are not 'insurers' of course - they are brokers. Like most brokers
they look at your specific details, address, car type, driving record, etc -
and then search for the cheapest quote from a 'bank' of insurers. The type
of claims service you get will depend more upon the insurer than the AA.
What I've learned over the years is that it is utterly pointless to ask
other people for recommendations on motor insurance. A company that has
provided a very competitive quote for driver 'A' may well provide an
appallingly expensive quote for driver 'B'. All you can do is shop around
each year and then compare two or three of the cheapest quotes you get to
see what's on offer. I agree that cheapest does not automatically mean
best - although it may well do.
