The A6 search continues...

Just wondering...according to parkers the mpg for a 2000 1.9 tdi is
50mpg and the mpg for a 2.5 tdi is 39mpg.  Seen a decent 2.5tdi for
sale... I mainly do motorway miles so was just wondering if the
difference between the 1.9 and 2.5 was going to be that noticeable
doing motorway miles?  Mpg is pretty important to me given the miles
I'm doing atm.

Any ideas?

Which generation of A6 are we talkinga about?  If it's the one with the
V6 TDi lump, then economy will be somewhat worse than for the 1.9tdi,
although it is a very nice engine..
If it's the previous generation I5 2.5TDi, then the difference is much
less marked - I bought one a few months back, and have found that for
motorway driving I am getting just under 50mpg (which means I get over
800 miles on a tankful :-)
