The Saxo was primarily so popular because it replaced the AX, which was so
popular because the AX GT was so damned superb at being a true Mini Cooper
replacement.

Nearly bought one once, they were/are pretty good (managed to crape enough
cash together for a Renault 5 GT Turbo in the end, whoooosh).
I wonder why they're so rare now while we still see Nova SR's everywhere ?.

Because all the AXs have been stuffed, leaving all the Novas that are about
now, which are primarily hooky reshells using ex-Grandma 1.2s.
