I've got around £10K to spend on a used car.

I do around 20K miles per year and prefer a largish car. I'm opting for a diesel at around the 2 litre power region. It would be very handy if it had cruise control and I'm not against automatics.

I'm looking at a Renault Laguna 1.9 Expression at the moment but havn't finally made my mind up. I'm wide open for suggestions so what's your opinion please?

If you want big, comfy and cheap-ish to run - and are not a badge snob -
then a Skoda Superb will be hard to beat.  Auto and cruise are available
for the diesel engines - although most of the 1.9 TDIs will be manual.

If you want something a bit "sharper" to drive, then look at a Mondeo.

The Renault does not have the best reputation for reliability...

The octavia TDI is good too, basically an early A4 platform.
£10k should see youin a nice nearly new 130BHP item, and you can get a
plug in unit for much more power than that!
Top buy!

Go to google groups and look for "Renault Automatic". I think that'll be
enough to put you off.
