Hi All,
Have great pleasure in getting my new TomTom 700 yesterday, ( xmas present
for myself! )
Just wondering if you specialists have any recommended sites to visit for
upgrades etc or tips on it to get the best out of it,.
I am looking for things like speed camera, colour schemes, sounds etc!
I dont really want to sign up to the plus services for a £5 month extra.
Also wondered how long it takes to charge up the battery?, i looked high and
low in the manual but it didnt say how long the battery takes to charge for.
ALSO.... sorry being a newbie, when i connect the usb to the thing via my
pc, am i in danger of deleting any of the maps etc?, i am just worried!, is
there a folder etc the new files like cameras etc need to go in?
Many thanks for help!
Doctor.

First of all, uk.rec.gps is also a good ng to keep an eye on for this sort
of thing. I got my 700 about 10 days ago and it's excellent!!
You can get the speed camera database (which has been free up to now but it
looks like they're going to start charging £2 for it soon) from here:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php
Different skins, colour schemes etc can be found on Ray's TomTom site here:
http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/index.html
Not sure how long the battery takes to charge. I know it only lasts for
about 2 hours unless you have it permanently hooked up to the in-car charger
(which is the "normal" way of using it whilst you're driving).
And finally, create a new folder somewhere on your hard drive and call it
"tomtom backup" (or something like that). Then, using windows explorer, just
do a "copy and paste" of everything on your tomtom into the new folder. I
don't think there are any hidden folders but, just in case, enable "show all
files" in folder view.
Finally finally, enjoy this excellent machine :o)

Thanks for that, just need some extra help!
I have worked out how to get the voices on, as that was fairly straight
forward, but not sure if i did speed cams correctly.
i dowloaded the zip, and found the ov2 bmp files folder, which i copied in
to the western europe folder ( in a folder ), but the pocketpgs said put it
in a great britain folder, but i didnt have one. so was this right?
do i need to activeate the speed cameras on the TT .. Also are they the only
files i need?, 12 of them ?
Thanks for help!!!!

Remember to lock it up when not in use, there are increased numbers of
thefts on GPS based products.

Congratulations. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these. I
thought I was getting one but got a gift certificate instead. I'll
probably use it to by the 700.
