Often mentioned hereabouts as the epitome of cheap-to-run...

Well, there's one appeared at a local car sales place. (NW M25)

It's red.
It's got "ONE OWNER" in big letters on the screen.
It looks spotless from a drive-by.
It's a grand.

If anybody cares...

Pah, that's the AX 1.5D :-)

I should hope so too.  I'd hate to be pissing about with the effort and
expense of paying more than one person for any car!

No no you mean the later 1.4 diesel.  The 1.5 is a relatively heavy on fuel.

Barely any difference in real world economy (60 vs 65 mpg...), but the
1.4 can suffer HG failure.  The 1.5 is pretty bulletproof, so overall
economy of ownership-wise the 1.5 is potentially cheaper.  Not much
difference in purchase price nowadays either.

<g> Just saying, like... It does appear to be a bit of a timewarp.

Actually, looking for it on Autotrader, it's not a diesel, despite having a
diesel bonnet on it. It's a 1.6 Automatic.

Ignore me. Completely.

That's a novel concept.  Back in the day, they made them of metal.  Or
occasionally plastic on some weird cars. :-)

Diesel bonnet?
If you want to put a pug intercooler on the TD, then you need to get an
automatic bonnet - AFAIK the diesel had the same bonnet as the rest of
the range.

The diesel had the same bonnet as every other manual 205.  Only the auto had
the bonnet you're thinking of.  Trust me, I know this!

I will :)
