Just a quick question on the current shape Mondeo (the one from 2001
onwards).  Looking at the 1.8 and 2.0 manual models, not the SCi, does
anybody know off the top of their heads if they use identical final drives /
gearing?

Sir.

According to the data published in Autocar, 13/09/2000, the 1.8 & 2.0
litre petrol models have indentical internal ratios & final drive
gearing.
The 2.0 litre DI diesel has a completly diffeent set of internal
ratios, & a different final drive, the 2.5 litre V6 has thesame ratios
as the other petrol engines, save for a different (higher) 5th gear, &
another, higher, final drive.

All 5s speed boxes, of course.

The later 6-speeds differ, from personal experience the V6 has a close
ratio internal set, but the diesel's internal ratio's are much wider
spaced.
I'd strongly suspect that the final drive ratio's are differnt.
No personal experiences re. th 6-speed 1.8 SCi lunp.

That's grand - thanks.  I should have said, "1.8 and 2.0 petrol models" heh.
