I found an offer for a Audi  TT 3.0  (right hand drive) on the
internet from a London car yard.
It has mileage of 10 000km, built  2006 for a price of approx 11000
euros.
This seems to be too good to be true. There were several cars with
that sort of cheap price
Is anyone aware of any scams with european cars being purchased in the
UK?
If I thought of pursuing this offer further of what should I be
aware ?
Any thoughts appreciated.

Heavies taking your car and your money when you turn up to view it.

Do you have the URL for these cars?

I am confused. Righthand drive with KM speedo? Priced in Euros but
being sold in London? Poster in Belgium from the email address?

I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

Is it the same thing as the UK scam of a foreign buyer wanting to send
you more money than it is worth through dodgy payment method and you
refund the difference?

Nothing unusal, the TT has a terrable image as a "hairdressers car, or
"a car for someone who'd like a Porsche but can't afford one." thats
what it says about you if you drive one.

I've always thought of the BMW 1 series that it smacks of "I wanted a BMW
but couldn't afford a real one so I got this ugly little toy instead"  :o)

I doubt many think that - quite the reverse. Says that the buyer wants
something different from any other small car and is willing to pay for it
- and put up with the inconvenience.

Don't think so myself. Maybe some buyers buy them for that reason.

The main reason I can see is that they're not offered a 3-series on
their company car list, but can have a Golf / A3 or 1-series. Obviously,
a 1-series is seen as having more prestige.

If it's a company car it's got nothing to do if they can afford it or not.
Company car drivers are a strange breed when it comes to spending other's
money. If they were as prudent with the company's money as with their own
I doubt you'd see such a large number of different cars on the road.

I agree, I've driven a 1 and spoken to a couple of people who own them
and found them to be great little cars. Personally, I go for a bigger
BMW. But if I was looking for a small car the 1 would be the 1. And I
think they look good, I think a two door version would be better, if
only they made one, better yet an M1 (not to be confused with the M1
supercar, now that is a good looking car)

They're overpriced, undersized and totally impractical. You'd have to be
a serious RWD fetishist or blind to anything other than the BMW badge to
even consider one.

BTW, do the BBC know you're using one of their domains as your usenet
posting name?
