I'm afraid I'm having to part with my pride and joy. If anyone is
interested in buying it, all the details are at
http://www.herridge.co.uk. I'm
asking for offers of around £6000 and I am based in Richmond,
Surrey (UK).

Please help me find her a good home!

IMHO a greatly underrated car. Had its predecessor (3.8 MkX) many years ago
and loved it. Somewhat bigger than the flat I lived in at the time and
certainly better furnished. Amazingly quick without ever being flustered -
probably not too good on the sprint away from the traffic lights, but after
about 30mph the old lady gathered up her skirts and went like hell. And
handled, too, especially considering you were driving something the size of
a small English county. Looked at objectively, it was essentially an E-Type
on steroids - virtually the same engine and rear suspension, which says a
lot for the design of both that they could fulfil such different tasks.

Unless you are into originality, a swap from those lovely triple 2" SUs to
XJ6 Series 3 injection would give even more performance and far better fuel
consumption.

Sadly circumstances dictate that I can't buy it, but I'm sorry you have to
part and hope you get a good price.

Dare I suggest that you may get more joy if you post a valid link, because
that one doesnt work, even if I trim the duplication, and the other crap
from it

It does from here....

The Jag looks extremely tasty, too.

Works fine for me.

I'm not at all sure why women like men. We're argumentative, childish,
unsociable and extremely unappealing naked. I'm quite grateful they do though.

?? Worked when I tried it. But then I'm not a techie.

Working OK now...must be my NTHell provider.

Looks nice, Rob. Unfortunately, it'd take up most of the small amount of my
road I don't already have cars parked on...

Two questions, though, on the pics.

1. No pics of the engine bay at all. Any particular reason?
2. Is the paint on the bootlid really utterly flat, or just a trick of the
light? It seems consistent across all pics.
Rob Herridge - 25 Mar 2004 16:21 GMT
The pics of the engine bay are coming soon. These are just some old
pics I had, I assure you there's nothing dodgy under there!

The paint on the boot is pretty flat yes, as is the roof, old
cellulose metallics never really did get on well with direct sunlight.
They do look OK after a bit of polishing though.

Hope this helps.

She looks superb and the interior is gorgeous. I would have thought there'd be
a market for hiring her out to film companies wanting period vehicles and for
weddings maybe. Not in the market myself but if you do sell her I hope she
finds a hood home too.

She was nearly going to be in a film about the life of Peter Sellers
last year. Unfortunately I couldn't make the dates.

Be very wary of doing this unless you drive the car and are paid for this
as well as the hire.
