Another arsehole car diver has killed a train driver.

Judging by the location of damage to the vehicle the young male driver has
tried to beat the train while the lights are flashing and not made it. The
rusulting collision has turned the loco over and appears to have crushed the
driver.

Train horror victim was manager's wife

by Jenny Round

A WOMAN killed when a miniature railway train she was driving was in
collision with a car at a level crossing has been named by Kent Police.

She was 43-year-old Suzanne Martin, wife of the general manager of the
Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, Danny Martin. The train was derailed in
the smash.

Mrs Martin had worked at railway since she was a teenager. She was a
volunteer and also a paid employee and was proud to become the first female
train driver at the railway. She met her husband when they were both in
their teens.

Police said several passengers were on board the train but nobody else was
hurt.

Police are questioning the driver of a silver coloured Vauxhall who was
involved in the tragedy which happened at about 6.30pm on Sunday at a level
crossing at Coast Drive, near Dungeness.

It is the second fatal incident on the track during the last two years. In
August, 2003 a male train driver died at a level crossing after colliding
with a car.

You must be mistaken. Car drivers are Gods and it's only thick sh.t HGV
drivers that cause accidents.

For f.ck's sake you can't even resist your cheap shots even when a 43
year old woman was killed.

Thank f.ck that not all lorry drivers are as thick and insensitive as
you are.

Nope. He raced the train, he lost. Idiot. Hope they throw the book at him.

Never worth taking a chance on these things.

Last time is happened on the same line they didn't even throw the tissue
paper at him.  Careless driving, £500 fine and a 12 month ban.

Lives are cheap on the road, you feel like killing someone?  Do it with a
car, it an automatic get out of jail free card.

I don't think so.

I first read that as "Do it with an automatic it's a get out of jail
free card." which I thought was a wonderful comment given the number
of people who do just that.

The politicians are the problem, not the courts, as it's they who
decided to create separate legislation for causing death by driving
rather than use the standard manslaughter legislation.

Another example of over complication which allows good lawyers to find
loopholes.

If he was not racing (no intent) - 10 years, if he was racing (intent)
- 20 years. Every time they fail to deal with these people, it makes
the roads more dangerous for the majority.

Does it say anywhere that the lights were definitely working?  I know it
seems unlikely they weren't working, but probably best not to jump to
conclusions.

Assuming that the standing instructions to RHDR drivers is the same as on
all other railways using this type of level crossing, the train driver gets
a flashing white light as an indication that the road lights are working. If
they are do not get the correct indication then the instruction is to stop
the train. Such crossings are only used on low speed lines.

That makes it seem even more unlikely they weren't working :-)
