Amazing Treatment By A Copper

I was in a town in Devon today. The plan was to pull over, grab the
shopping off my gran, stick it in the car so leaving her to wander round
the shops with her chums without lots of heavy bags.

I pull up on double yellows in the high street. It's a strange old
street as there is room to park here & people do it all the time - it
doesn't inconvenience traffic.

For whatever reason, my gran has got lost. After waiting 10 mins, I get
out of the car to have a look for her. I'm immediately stopped by a
copper. He said, "You leaving the car here?", I replied "I just want to
grab my grans shopping so she doesn't have to carry it about."

He then tells me how he really doesn't have a problem with that, points
out that we are both smiling & chatting & any bystanders can see he is
clearly doing his job before allowing me to go find my gran "try not to
be too long he says with a smile" before chatting to the occupants of
the next car.

I really didn't think it was possibly in this day & age - a copper that
instead of rigidly enforcing bullshit rules & fines can see common sense
(parking here puts no-one out) & clearly believes his job is to help the
community exist as smoothly as possible.

For the first time in years I've actually felt some respect for a
copper. If he's reading this then hats off to you sir. What a top bloke.

That's the difference between a policeman and a poorly paid council
traffic warden on commission ...

There are still such people about. They're the one's that the target driven
bureaucrats and PC pillocks haven't corrupted yet.

There is still hope.

He's probably now on a charge for gross misconduct for wantonly
failing to meet this week's targets.

Wouldn't surprise me!
I deliberately didn't say the name of the town in case some arsehole
decided he should be taken to task...how f.cked up is this cuntry for me
to think like that?

Bit of a shock to actually see one on the streets to be honest.

Pity he'll soon be replaced by a CCTV camera to nick all those bastard
people parking on the double yellows to pick people up, get cash out of
the machine etc without actually putting anyone out...
