...digital tacho cards, some notes

Thread view:

FCS - 20 May 2008 14:00 GMT
As this has cropped up here before, my
reactions to personal digital tacho cards
are:

It would be nice if the information about
provision of company tacho cards were
as clear in the leaflet you get to read
before applying as it is in the one you
get with the card itself. I'm sure I read it.
And it wasn't anything like as clear.

Anyone "with the facilities" to upload their
own tachodata (i.e. a chipcard reader)
may wish to consider a dedicated offline
laptop or PDA or somesuch for their own
security as, on consideration, it seems to
be likely that magnetic strips on financial
"plastic" card formats are there as a backup
for some retailers and possibly to facilitate
ATM changeover but discrete data storage
for security, making use of the two formats
(strip and chip), seems unlikely.

i.e., any handset you get to read a tacho
card may well look, to a sense bot, like one
that reads moneycards.

WHAT THE f.ck ARE YOU ON ABOUT?

There are no magnetic strips on a digicard. Why would you want to
download your own tacho data? Print the f.cker out.

I disagree there, I have a card reader & software which works out my
driving hours, daily rest, weekly rest, WTD, any infringements etc. all
on screen & far easier than trying to understand the printouts.

The printouts are easy to understand. I did think they were idiot proof
but apparently there seems to be two idiots who have a problem with
then.

Well, perhaps you would like to include the German, Austrian and
Polish traffic police because, from personal experience, I can assure
you they all want to look at the data on the card and not any
printouts.
Perhaps not ALL the data on the card is included on the printouts?

FFS..are you as dumb as that other twat? The printout shows the last 24
hours. Your card records 28 days worth. The coppers want to see that
you've had your weekly rests so want more than a days worth - no
different than asking to see all your tacho discs you have on you.

So you are saying that there is no extra data on the card which is not
included in the printout?

Why are you so aggressive? Is no-one other than yourself allowed to have
a personal opinion?. Is your way always the correct way? All I said was
I prefer to use a card reader & software to check on what is happening.
I'd rather not keep printing out pieces of paper with the information on.

As to your comments about the printout shows the last 24 hours are you
sure about that? Also the card holds the that 28 days information are
you sure about that? I've never used a UK digital tachograph system that
both those statements hold true, unless you are using a different system.

Because I'm sick of stupid c.nts who claim to be HGV drivers and aren't
worth the steam off a Polish drivers piss.

There. You've annoyed me so much I've said a word I promised not to on
this group.

> Is your way always the correct way?

In regards to drivers hours laws and associated things, yes because I
know what I'm on about.

> As to your comments about the printout shows the last 24 hours are you

Yes you dumb f.ck. When you eject the card, the tacho unit asks you if
you want a printout and puts the number 24 there - for 24 hours.

> Also the card holds the that 28 days information are

Yes..it's in the f.cking EU regulations.

Go read the f.cking official information, its all there.

Drivers and screwdrivers and you ain't a driver.

Where did that come from? I'm not saying anything about the intelligence
of drivers??? I'd like to see some of the pussies in this group try to
drive one & then have their opinions on the state of car drivers.

I disagree on this you seem not to.

But it doesn't that's the whole point, it prints out the information of
that 24 hour day period, which means that if you print it out at 17:00
you will only get 17 hours of information. If you want the information
between 17:00 & 00:00 the previous day you will have to print that out
seperately. You obviously only drive days.

>> Also the card holds the that 28 days information are

Just because it's the EU regs doesn't mean that's what it does, it will
hold a minimum of 28 days information based on 100 daily events, If you
don't have 100 daily events & only 50 daily events it could hold 56 days
etc, it does not delete events after 28 days.

Don't need to I know them, which it appears you don't as well as you
think you do.

> Drivers and screwdrivers and you ain't a driver.

Well, that seems a bit strange as I'm sure I am, could have sworn it was
a artic with a 40ft trailer I took to Avonmouth last night, it's not
something you tend to forget about.

Well things must have changed since you demonstrated a very poor grasp
of the regulations in this thread.

Erm...... let's see now.
OK, a starter for ten. How many tacho charts would  you be required to
produce for inspection, now and back then (Feb '07)?

Now, 28 days. Back then, current week plus the last chart of the
previous week OTTOMH - can't remember if the 15 days thing was in then
because I'm only interested in what's current.

Now explain to me where I made a mistake? Be VERY CAREFUL because I
think I know what you're about to say and you're about to be shown up
as a stupid short sighted clueless muppet if you do.

What relevance has this to recreational driving?
