If you get a Gatso ticket you get points, right?
So am I right in saying there is no way it can be processed at a
post office?

Yes

That's right. It'll be processed by a local court like any speeding
offence. If you're not miles over the spped limit, they'll send a fixed
penalty notice and you can settle it through the post with a cheque (and
you'll need to send your license). If they do summons you, then you can
plead by letter and settlement will again be to the court by post.

Why would you want to do it in the post office?

Cheers

Being able to settle it at the post office isn't a bad idea, we can get the tax
disk from them and they now offer insurance and loans setting them up to handle
fixed penalties would be a simple job and may save money.

Wouldn't be a problem with the old paper style ones (don't know about the new
photo ones). You would be pleading guilty by proxy anyway that power may as well
lie at the post office with a DVLA database uplink.

It would avoid the issue of wanting to hire a car while the
license was away in the post.
