My rear drivers side passenger footwell has suddenly started filling with
water, this is not coming from the outside but appears to be coming from
the heater nozzels on the floor, I only have to drive a short distance for
there to be about a pint of water in the footwell, I suspect the air con is
to blame but why and how. the car is an s reg, can anybody help, Cheers
Barry.

Read else where something to do with the rubber seals around the doors or
glass roof. Does it happen even if its dry outside or not been raining the
past 24hrs? After rain the water would be held in the seals till you start
moving when it all drains into your foot well.

Try checking for leaves blocking water ways under the bonnet, you don't
say which passat you have (and I wouldn't know the specifics if you did)
but usually the air intake is by the bulk head, there is usually water
run ways around there get blocked by leaves at this time of year and
water splashes over the air intake through the fans.

Check the water drain under the battery.

Is the right answer.

Do it ASAP, too, 'cos you'll get water into the connectors to the CCM
(comfort control module), or even worse, into the CCM itself.

If the CCM gets wet and corrodes, you're looking at a 600 quid plus bill
for a replacement - you'll know it needs doing when the alarm, windows,
locking and interior lights start doing random things.
