Mk2 GTi Rear beam axle bushes........

What is the best way to remove the old axle bushes.  Looking to refurb the
whole axle and these look like trouble :o)

Job done with a bit of heat and a hacksaw, now for the kurust & hammerite

I removed the whole axle including the mount plates as I completely refurbed
the whole rear axle, poly-bushes, braided hoses, copper nickel pipes, gen vw
calipers & pads and zimmerman drilled discs - even down to the white plastic
pipe retaining clips.  I sanded/stripped the rear axle, zinc primed and
smootherited it.  The old axle bushes are a bugger to get out.  Heat breaks
the rubber/metal bond, then the rubber and the inner sleeve come out.  Then
the outer metal part of the bush has to be removed - hacksaw, hammer and
chisel are your friends here.

I just centred it as best as possible by eye, the axle mounting brackets
have slots not holes.  I did get the geometry checked and all came out ok,
well within tolerance.
