Been looking at caravelle, see other messages.

Notice that there are a couple of v class mercedes for sale.  Anyone on
the group had experience of how the caravelle compares to the v class?

Thinking of reliability, mpg, internal dimensions e.t.c.

thanks

If it is the pre 2003 V Class, it would be far Smaller than Caravelle T4 or
T5.  Otherwise it would be a Pear and Apple comparison.

Being from the US, I didn't know what a Caravelle is... I did an image
search on google, a bunch of boats came up and one van that looks a lot
like a Volkswagen van.  Is that it?  What is the Mercedes V class?  Is
that a van, too?

Caravelle = VW 'van' with windows and seats.
It's a modern VW Microbus.

Have to admit that I was incredibly impressed with the 56 plate
Transporter TDI 105 I hired the other week.

I can see why people like the Caravelle as an alternative MPV.

I love my Caravelle LWB (9-seater) TDi. We looked at getting a 'large MPV'
for kids/dogs/bikes/crap etc.. and the only ones even close to the size
requirements were van-based. The rest are just shopping toys
(Sharan/Galaxy/Sedona/Voyager).
With the rear 2 rows of seats out, I can fit 2 large 4-cyl bikes or 3
motocrossers in there with ease. The performance and economy is amazing for
a big old van too. Cruising at 90+ is easy, and at about 80mph you get
38-40mpg.
Merc Vito based people carriers are too bloody expensive and have minimal
luggage space.
