Does anybody know of a good independent VW specialist in the Northants
area?  Our car is now over 3 years old and I want to stop using the VW
service network, but I would still like to use a garage the specialises
in the marque and has all the proper diagnostic equipment etc. rather
than just any old independent garage.

The car is a 2003 Polo

Thanks

Oscar

Hi Oscar,

In Northants I have used DG Motors in Wellingborough for over 10 years.
They are an independant VW garage.  I have only ever owned VWs
(Initially polos and more recently MK2 golfs).  He really knows his
stuff and is quite reasonable on price.  Personally, I have only owned
older VWs but I have seen many newer VWs in his garage, so it may be
worth calling him.  His number is 01933 227277 (or google it).

In Northampton itself there are a few VW independent specialists.  VW
Premier is based on the Grafton Industrial estate.  I have used them in
the past as well.  They sometime feature in the VW magazine with
modified cars.

Another is the Lion garage which advertises in the local rag.  Cant say
much about them as I have never used them (but I did buy some armour
door plates from them).  Cant even recall where they are.

Finally there is Blue Streak autos.  Dont have any details on them as I
was given the name by a friend who uses them.  But they specialise in
VWs.

Quite a few really.  Only thing I cant say is whether any of them can
work on newer cars like yours.  New cars tend to use more of the
electronic gadgets / diagnostics tools to find faults etc.  But
definately worth giving them a call.

Cheers
