I rear-ended a minivan (in the snow) in my golf 1.8 8v. Unfortunately,
it busted the radiator and dripped all the coolant. It didn't
overheat, but it is running rough and the coolant light is flashing
(after about a minute) when I refill the resevoir. What do you think
could be the problem(s)? Please be kind in your response, I already
feel bad enough!
There's prob still air in the system. Let it run with the cap off and fill
the res. to the max. mark

Yep, almost certainly air. Also try squeezing the hoses with the engine off
and coolant cap off to try and displace the air,
good luck!
