Has this ever happened to anyone?

I have a 2002 Passat. Got it used a couple of months ago. It just
started having this quirk with the driver's door sensor. The car
indicates that the drivers door is open....when it isn't. And it won't
go off now. It dings and beeps and buzzes and it REALLY ANNOYING. I
can't get it to go off! Is there any quick fix to just disconnect the
sensor or anything? Guy at the auto parts store said I'd have to take
it to the dealer b/c the sensor is IN the door. Anybody have any
advise?

Follow the article but you do not need to dismantle the lock mechanism as
the microswitch to sense the door is open is mounted just above the
lock.Give it a good clean and test with a meter and you may be OK. Otherwise
you need a new lock.

Its not a difficult job but watch the plastic window winder clips. They may
break when you replace the glass.

Good luck

Paul
