2002 passat tdi 130 5 speed .
loss of turbo boost, hissing noise.
I have removed all  flexible hose's and inspected them for splits and
leaks. non found. Reconnected all hose's accept for the one that connect's
to throttle body. Ran engine boost pressure develops block off no sing of
any leaks and plenty of pressure.
Is it possible this may be a common fault with the passat????easy fix
????? any body any idea's??

The hissing must be a leak somewhere. Can you get someone to blip the
throttle while you listen under the bonnet?

That will not work. You'll never get any boost in neutral. You need some
load to get the turbo going. Check all the pipe work between turbo exhaust
and intake manifold. Maybe a damaged ic.

I wondered if the turbo might not boost off-load. It *must* be a leak
somewhere. Good point about the intercooler- could also be a hose to it.

Small hose to top of the intercooler.
Had that prob on Golf 130  Kept on blowing off the big intercooler pipe
giving no boost and lots of black smoke.
don't recall hissing sound though.
