Passat CD Installation

Hi All,

I've just bought off Ebay a VW in dash single disc CD player for my Wife's
2002 Passat, whic previously just had the Gamma Head Unit.

Upon trying to fit it, I realised there was no easy way of adapting the
standard fascia trim, so I bought a brand new fascia trim from VW (£38!!)
and it doesn't fit into the existing "cage" The top mounting holes where the
climate control sat obscure the new trim, and the screw holes in to bottom
of the new trim line up with nothing in the dash.

Now I'm not adverse to a bit of hacksawing of the existing cage, to make the
top hole line up (that bit wouldn't be too hard), but the bottom holes seem
much more of a problem.

Has anyone any experience of this? All help would be appreciated.

Thanks for any advice,

Regards,

John.
