I have a 2001 Jetta VR6, my check engine light went on last night (sat).
Probably not a good sign. Today I was filling the gas tank and also under the
hood filling the washer fluid. I heard a noise that sounded like a
percolating coffee maker. Anyone have any ideas on what I might be in for??
Tomorrow's Monday and I'll have to take it in, but hoping for ideas of what
it might be. Thanks!
The percolating sound is probably the coolant boiling, so I would
imagine your problem is related to this system. Good luck.

Thaks for the reply. Is this something that could be an expensive fix??

It may be nothing. our Bora V5 had a sound a bit like what you describe.
It's some sort of pump that runs on after the engine has stopped. Can go for
quite a while.
I'd get it checked to be safe as if the engine does overheat and warp the
cylinder head they are apparently very difficult/impossible to skim so you'd
have to shell out for a new/recon head.

Thanks.. I'm going in to get it checked today at 7:30... started driving to
work this AM and the engine heated up very, very quickly.

Is there still water in it?
