vw badge golf mk2 front grille

hi
my vw badge on the front grille (1992 mk2) has the paint worn off, can
i get it re-silvered?
i could just spray it black but i like the original silver look. is it
chrome as standard? or just silver paint?

It's silver paint on plastic.

You'll probably find that a whole grille, complete with badge is only
about 20 quid from Germand & Swedish.

The badge is a seperate item, and the pattern grilles are a bit shite. I'd
get some fineline tape and whack a bit of silver paint on there. Rattle can
will be fine. OTOH it'd probably be cheaper to buy one second hand unless
it's the 16V badge.

thanks i will remove the badge and spray it silver from a can with
newspaper behind , cheers

The original isn't sprayed entirely silver. The raised part of the letters
is silver, the champhered bit is black.

Oh right. The VW badge in the centre of the grille is chromed and so silver
paint won't look right. They're only a fiver or so, so probably not much
dearer than buying a can of silver paint.

Oh no they're not. The GTI black ones are cheapish, the chrome ones are
dear. I'd go to the scrapyard for one...

You could always dump it and get a replacement badge from BMW.
