Is it worthwhile having a VW Golf Mk3 Cabriolet (in excellent condition now)
professionally anti-rust treated (with Waxoyl or Dinitrol) ?

Dinitrol is better than Waxoyl. TBH my experience of MK2 Golfs is that it's
bits you can't see that rust - floor pans remain pretty solid barring the
boxy bits that seem to be for jacking the back end up, which have gone a bit
rotten on mine. The other areas are hidden things like the top of the wheel
arch above the petrol filler neck, and bits of the chassis that tend to
flex.
