Anyone spotted any guides on the changing a cambelt on a mk4 golf 1.6
2001 model AZD engine.

Thinking of trying to save a few quitd and spending an afternoon at it.

Will do the waterpump to whilst am at it. New ones aparantly have metal
propellers as the old ones were platics and crap, well done vw another
stupid thing.

local garage are after £340 for it with waterpump but needs 9 days booking.

Uhh, as witnessed by my post, I'm probably a blind
person trying to lead another, but I'll offer--

You might try your local library system.
The one near me (in US), used to have a pretty nice
selection of "Chilton Repair Manuals".
Alas, , they cleared them out, now subscribe to
two 'on-line' systems.
They are not nearly as good in my mind,
(less words, much poorer pictures/diagrams etc.)
but they will give you a start.
But, , beware, if your valves overlap with where
the piston travels, and you goof --- uf dah,
real expensive posibilities exist.

See the Autodata home page for an example of what you get:

I could not describe it as a "Dummy's Guide" to changing timing belts  :-)

It's just one way for owners who are "capable" of doing the job "properly"
to get the "Trade info" without buying the complete Autodata manual.

You have email. Like I said, it refers to VW dealer tools, but should
give an idea. If you're considering doing it, get a Haynes book as well.

have a look for a copy of "ElsaWin" on the net.  You can probably buy copies
from ebay for a few quid or even download it for free from torrent sites
etc.  Basically, ElsaWin is the service software VW/Audi use in the
workshops.  It's like an online manual and is very detailed.
