Hi (sorry if I have the name wrong)
Thanks for your post about the indicator problem. My news reader has
lost the thread.
You were spot on the money, a removal of the indicator stalk showed a
lose connection.
Today co-incidently the indicators stopped working again. I check the
connection on the stalk again and was fine, so I moved along to the
hazard which which houses the relay for the flasher unit and replaced
with a new one and problem now solved.
Hopefully thats the end of it.
It feels great to have my indicators work :) I didn't realise how much
I'd missed them. Although I had to get a bus to VW to get the part as no
indicators on the car and 100 or so left and right turns so too far to
drive on a car with no indicators is just dangerous and silly.
But all sorted so thanks for the info as usual you are a wealth of
information on VAG stuff! :)
Whinge time:
Bloomi eck the wires behind the hazard switch are short it was a real
pain lining up the new switch and getting it on. I took the cup holder
out to get my hand underneath to get a little grip on it and finally got
it on.
whinge over.
*thumbs up*

Glad to help. The hazard switch tip I think I first heard from SteveH-
he'd had it on a Passat, but the stalk one was a result of a good couple
of hours looking at a neighbour's Lupo and the wiring diagrams,
wondering why the born, parking lights, and indicators were all dodgy.

BMW drivers do it all the time so I'm sure you could have managed :-p

"Right of Way" is built into every BMW and Mercedes before they leave the
factory.

They do certainly do alright :)
Saw a fancy BMW 5 series I think, shoot past a red light completly missing
the fact why everyone slow down being a traffic officer with a speed gun. He
went on the other side of the road which was clear overtaking 8 cars and
through the junction on red narrowly missing another vehicle. I certainly
gulped! Not only they they clock him, they pursued him.
They are in a world of their own with there own laws!
Akthough as with anything there are good and bad BMW drivers. More bad
though lol :)
