Hi, my transporter broke down a few weeks ago....the fuel timing belt snapped. i have taken it to a friend who owns a car shop...hes not great on diesels so has got a friend of his in to change the fuel pump...time it up... etc.... i bought a used one from the same modal van.... now this guy has fitted the pump and changed the ecu from my old pump on to the working one but it will not start???? he say there is fuel getting to the engine...but for some reson will not turn over... he suspects its an electrical fault???? is it common for this to happen??? is there any thing i could check or do????? any help would be great....im pulling my hair out now... thanks Jim. url:http://myreader.co.uk/gp/1281-1.aspx If the timing belt snapped then you prob got some bend valves. If it ran before the belt broke it should run now, if the timing is correct. That's my favourite for a diagnosis. Son-in-law had one of those (2.5 transporter). So I know the setup and I never tackle anything like that just thinking I know how to do it. Only other thing I can think of is has the stop solenoid stuck on? i.e. when you turn the "ignition" key to the stop position there is normally a solenoid that causes the injector pump to go to the zero inject position in order to stop the engine. You can usually hear it release a few seconds after the engine stops in order to allow the next start to take place. If that sticks in the off position it'll crank until hell freezes over without result.
