New fuel pump

Have a 1998. XC 70  station wagon. Mechanic says pump is bad. Vehicle
runs ok, when first started, but is very hard to start once stopped. How
envolved is putting a new one in?

You have to drop the rear axle, only then can you remove the fuel tank to
access the pump, which as I recall was 700 USD.

Thanks very much for the information as   to what to do too replace the
fuel pump.
