After an absence for some time, posting again must be the "new" volve is
starting to age....

Got this problem

when cold transmission doesn't want to change up, simple fix move the
selector down to 3 and back to D off she goes.

Then occasionally it refuses to start, just like your not in P simple fix
move the selector about a bit and off she goes.

Had an AUTO elec look at it told me that it was giving error that could
indicate low fluid, checked that... no change.

Any ideas?

Paul

Very simple- replace the PND switch- its on the transmission casing.

is it possible to do this without removing the transmission?

is it done from inside the car?

Yes, pretty easy- you might have to remove the air cleaner box though.

Anyone who has experience of the FWD Volvo's will have replaced one, if they
havent- find someone else.
