Question about 1975 245 DL

My son maintains that this car used 'leaded' gas, and "I" think I remember
putting unleaded in it. I drove it from '75 to '83 and then it became the
kids' car until I sold it in '92 or thereabouts.

Anyone know what this station wagon used for fuel? It was imported into the
US. I'm not even sure about the model number, but I do know it was the
least expensive stationwagon they made, with a standard transmission. (What
a tank!)

    1975 was the only year 240 (wagon would be the 245DL) that used the B20
engine. It can run on either leaded or unleaded because it has no
oxygen sensor or catalytic converter and has hardened value seats.
    The down side is that being a "one off" some of the parts are hard to
find and quite expensive. Personal experience being the exhaust system
and power steering hoses. Not a bad beast, but one of the hardest 200
series to keep on the road (with the 260s being second)

Thanks! I will now tell Bill (my son's name, too) that we were both right.
It did not have power steering, that I remember. I also remember that when
it ran, it ran very, very well. And, when it was ailing, the money just
flew out of my pocketbook. :-)

Both of my kids learned to drive in it, and it was rear ended by a Camaro
once when my son was driving. The impact shoved the bumper in on one side
(didn't bend it though), but the Camaro's front end was mush.
