Dealer has told me that Volvo do not record the number or reference for the
locking wheel nuts fitted to each car.

Given the detailed recording of every minor detail of every car
manufactured, it seems unbelievable that they do not record this
information.

Has anyone ever got this information from Volvo in order to replace a lost
wheel nut key?

Call another dealer and don't ask about finding numbers or
references.  Simply tell the parts person that you have lost the wheel
nut key and that you need a replacement.

When you purchased the locking wheel nuts there was a card in the
package that had the code you need to use to order a replacement some
dealers have a master set of wheel locks to use when the locks are not
provided by the customer for this you will have to contact the service
department of your local Volvo dealer for assistance with this
