You probably only need a new diaphragm for the carburettor. These fail at
(longish) regular intervals.

That's sheer extortion! Even over here, a replacement diaphragm for a
pierburg 175cdus (not too dissimilar to yours) is only about 15 -20 UK
pounds, are you sure that they were quoting for the right part?
