Is this happening to anyone else? I reset the trip odometer after
gassing up and now neither the trip nor the regular odometer is
turning.
they dont click, make noise, nothing. the speedo still works. any
suggestions? is there simply a loose connection to repair this? or is
it a big bux item?

There's a gear that drives the odometer that cracks and slips on the
shaft.  You can try to "damage" the shaft slightly so the cracked gear
grips the shaft, or go to:  http://www.odometergears.com/
