Driver side door 'sticking'

I have a '96 850 GLT and a '96 850 Turbo.  Within the last couple of weeks
the driver side door on each has been 'sticking', making loud metallic
noises and is not opening smoothly.  Looks like jerking motion in the
upper arm mechanism.  Is there a simple solution that I am missing (such
as grease?).  Thanks in advance.

The door stops are known to do this, and need replacement.  Also, the
body where the door stop is bolted often cracks and this is what you
hear.

Replace tt with t (twice!) and remove parentheses to email me directly.
(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)
