VAG-COM diagnose interface support for 850 TDI ?

Does anyone know whether the VAG-COM diagnose interface works with a 850 TDI
from 1996.
The engine in that car is a AUDI 2.5 TDI type AEL.

Has anyone tried this?

You could make yourself an interface like this:
