Kinked Fuel Pump Hose

To All,

while trying to replace the fuel filter on my 89 Volvo 240 DL Wagon, I
kinked the fuel pump metal hose that goes into the fuel filter. The
bolts going into the filter were practically welded shut. Nonetheless,
I aborted the project and hoped the car would start - it did not.

Can this metal hose be straightened out? Do I have to buy a new fuel
pump? Or can this component be purchased separately?

On my 83' the copper washers were really torqued on. Its best to use good
quality correct size wrenches and not an adjustable wrench, since a little play
can lead to rounded edges.
If the part didn't come with the filter, you could find another at a wrecking
yard for next to nothing.
In working on my filter or fuel pump I get some extra copper washers in case I
have to reattach the filter or fuel pump. The washers get embosed with the
fittings and may not form a possitive seal and then leak gas. Or, really wrench
the part on and worry about how hard it is to remove next time.
