After 85K miles, my 2000 S80 T6 is still running well. This was a major
concern to me as I started monitoring this group, and others, after I bought
my car new. There were many problems with this car and the 1999's. I'm
knocking on wood, but my car has had very few issues - the CD changer
started skipping at about 25K miles... changed out under warranty. I
recently had the radiator fan fail, replaced it myself at a cost of about
$250 and 2 hours labor - an easy job. Sure, I put tires on the car, did the
breaks myself.. the car is still running like new. Also, replaced the tranny
fluid / filter and do oil regularly.. think the car will run another 85K
miles!.. wonder if I last that long.

Sounds like regular maintenance to me.... Remember most people who post have
a problem.... If every S80 had problems, Volvo would have been in quite the
conundrum - the S80 might have been a problematic car, but that being said
that might mean 10% of owners have been having serious issues while you
might be in the 90% that don't (I'm not sure of the real numbers).

My 2002 S80 T-6 has been flawless after 75,000 miles. I think the "problem"
nature of this car was greatly exaggerated. After 4 1/2 years of ownership I
still get compliments on it and all I do is wax it once a year and wash it a
few times in between. Of course I also have the scheduled service done every
6,000 miles, mostly just oil changes. I stomp on it pretty good too, it's
seen it all. What a great car!

I own a 99 S80-T6. At first I had tons of problems and 95% of them
were software related. At one point I was running beta software in the
thing. I now have 57,200 miles on it. Just got home from a 1,750 mile
camping trip with my family towing three bikes and tons of other
stuff. I've gone from hating this car to loving it. Hands down the
most comfortable car I've driven. Since all the software bugs are gone
it is very reliable. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Although I've
been told the newer models don't have the ultra soft leather I got in
99. I plan to keep this car till it drops which hopefully isn't
anytime soon.

Just curious but how can you own a 2002 car for 4.5 years? Isn't this
2004?

My mistake, it's a 2000 Volvo. Ooops!

Yes, the T6 is one helluva car.  I have a '99 model, it has had only two
service issues in its life.  It lost a coil pack once, and I had to have the
MAP sensor replaced.  No biggie.
What a wonderful automobile!  It will cruise 130 mph and not break a sweat,
get 25 mpg at 80 mph, and embarrass a lot of the "rice boys" in their little
Hondas they think are so quick...lol!  I can drive for 6 hours at a stretch
and not feel tired....those wonderfully comfortable, glove soft
seats....ahhhhhhh!
Coming up on 90K miles doesn't faze me in the least.  I'm going to have a
major service done to replace the belts and generally check it over really
good, then take off on a long vacation.
Kudos, Volvo for the S80 T6!
