I just bought a V50 with High Performance audio system.

Question: Is there a AUX-IN option on this system (eg. I want to connect my
iPod to the AUX for in-car use)
Does anybody know any solutions to connecting external audio sources to the
audio system ?

Thanks !

Stein

Mee too!

However I have the SC816 in the S70.  Can an ipod be plugged in direct?

Hammo

Yeah, got the belkin tuner and the tape thing, but would prefer a line in!

The 'tape-thin' is not an option i Scandinavia. Noone delivers a
cassette-player fro audio entertainment systems. Only CD-players and
occasionally MD-players.

We are stuck with with FM transmitters (like this

allthough FM transmitters are not legal to use, at least not here in Norway

Have you seen the iPod interface in the new BMW's? you can even use your
steering wheel mounted audio controls to adjust the unit, which is plugged
in thru a jack in the glove box... Looks like a great setup.

I'd suggest buying an FM transmitter from the USA or Canada - from and
internet store, and shipping it over. No one would really be able to know
unless someone who cared was right beside your car and tuned into your iPod
being played over the FM frequencies.

I haven't seen Aux in on a factory stereo except on one of my friends old
VW's... Never on any Volvo i've seen tho.

Yes !

I've seen it, but I don't want a BMW... (allready bought the V50, and it's
due to be delivered in October...)
Nice bundling, though... Buy an iPod an get a BMW as an extra bonus... LOL

I believe the BMW is using an adapter to the iPod-connector to access the
controls via the steering wheel. Shouldn't be too difficult when Burton
Clothing manages this in their products...

Does anybody know what manufacturer is delivering the audio system to Volvo
?
I'm quite shure they buy these systems 'off the shelf' from Sony, Philips,
JVC, Blaupunkt or something like that. Wouldn't bee too surprised if there
are some 'magic connectors' in the back of it....
BTW... They sell these transmitters over the counter here, but you are not
allowed to use them ;)  They're even cheaper than in the US...
I might go for one, just to keep it on the shelf...not for use of course,
just for my collection !

There's nothing on the back on the 960's radio except what looks like the
proprietary CD changer jack... the back of my VW Golf's radio... which is a
Panasonic has even more of a proprietary look to the back of it..... I think
my Volvo radio might be a Mitsubishi, but not 100% sure on that one, not
sure who they are using nowadays either.

I don't like BMW's that much either, but it's a great idea... I'm sure Volvo
will copy it in a few years, maybe when I go to by a new S40 or V50 ;-)....
hahaha

If you get an FM transmitter, make sure it's a proper digital one, not
one of the cheaper analogue-tuned ones.  The one my mate has drifts
all over the place and is basically unusable unless you want to stop
every 3 minutes to retune it.  I bought a Griffin one which fits the
iPod perfectly and works really well.  Ebay has loads, but you can buy
direct from Griffin's US website for shipment to UK.

What signal is carried from an autochanger to the head unit?  Is it
just a digital feed to the DAC in the headunit, or is there a
line-level analogue signal in there?
